Melanie Tem (b. 1949) is an American writer of dark fantasy and horror. She is also a published poet, an oral storyteller, and a playwright. Her short fiction has received the Bram Stoker, international Horror Guild, British Fantasy, and World Fantasy Awards. She has published numerous short stories, eleven solo novels, two collaborative novels with Nancy Holder, and two with her husband Steve Rasnic Tem. Some of her stories have been collected in the volume The Ice Downstream. Her solo fiction has recently appeared in Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine and the anthologies Supernatural Noir, Portents, and Werewolves and Shapeshifters.
